Michelle Bazin (she/her)

Michelle Bazin (she/her) is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta, dedicated to guiding individuals and couples on their journeys toward healing and self-discovery. With a passion for helping adolescents and adults navigate life’s challenges, she offers counselling and therapy tailored to your unique needs. Michelle is the holder of a master’s degree in counselling psychology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

As an EMDR-trained clinician with advanced training, Michelle specializes in the treatment of trauma and complex trauma, believing that every experience shapes our path forward. She also has a deep commitment to supporting relationships through couples therapy.

Michelle’s journey into psychology is enriched by a diverse background that includes over a decade of experience as a paralegal and a professional advocate for individuals with cognitive differences. This unique perspective allows her to understand the complexities of exclusion and marginalization and view challenges from a systems' perspective. She has also worked closely with those overcoming addiction, reinforcing her belief in the power of resilience and recovery.

In her sessions, she incorporates a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support you. EMDR is a cornerstone of her practice, but she also utilizes techniques like the Flash Technique and Ego State Therapy to address trauma and inner conflicts. For couples ready to invest in their relationship, she employs the Gottman Method—backed by levels 1, 2, and Trauma/Affairs training. She also works to help couples navigate addiction experiences and substance use issues from a couple recovery model, which addresses three recoveries: each individual partner’s recovery from the experience and the couple relationship in the context of recovery. Additionally, Michelle is also trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples. Overall, her approach is grounded in realism and humanness, ensuring that you feel heard and understood. Mindfulness and somatic strategies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy are weaved into her sessions, fostering an environment where you can explore, heal, and thrive.

Michelle spends much of her self-care time activating her play circuit with her husband and four dogs. In the summer, her self-care includes stand up paddle boarding and exploring Canada’s wilderness. In winter, she gets cozy with a warm cup of hot chocolate, a creative fiction novel and loves making snow angels.
