In addition, she has worked in private practice for the past five years.

Joanna holds a firm belief that everyone is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have.  She aims to empower individuals through the application of therapeutic skills while fostering their intrinsic motivation. She sees each person as the expert within their own life and believes that with the right β€˜fit’ with your therapist, everyone can pivot to achieve healthy changes. Her approach is holistic, client-centered, and strength-based. Joanna employs a variety of therapeutic modalities to assist clients with challenges such as processing unresolved trauma (C-PTSD and PTSD), regulating emotions, developing coping strategies, managing anxiety and low mood, cultivating self-compassion and self-esteem, and navigating school related difficulties.

Over her career supporting youth and families, she has developed a passion for assisting women throughout their motherhood journey, helping them maintain their identity. Joanna also has a keen interest in helping parents and guardians reconnect with their children to foster strong, positive relationships, which she believes is fundamental to raising resilient and empowered youth.

Joanna is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and also completed the Child and Youth Worker Diploma from Mohawk College. She has completed various training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) as well as training in Maternal Mental Health. Joanna will be completing her Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) by September 2024.

When she's not working with clients, Joanna homeschools two of her three children and cherishes time spent with her family. Having recently moved to Alberta, she has discovered a love for the mountains and is excited to explore all the natural beauty the province has to offer.
